Curfew

July 29, 2020. A general curfew is issued in the province of Antwerp to stop the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. From 11:30 pm to 6:00 am, Antwerp turns into a ghost town. Bars and restaurants close, streets empty in no time. Anyone who still ventures outside risks a hefty fine from the diligently patrolling police. Apart from a few homeless people and taxi drivers, there is not a living soul to be seen. Never before have I seen my city so terrifyingly  unreal.

The curfew was suspended on August 26, 2020. I took these photographs during the first week of the curfew.
